The 11th Round of the ISI Tokyo Session Memorial Program for Financial Assistance
 
Purpose of the Program
  This Program was established after the 46th ISI Session (1987) held in Tokyo to provide ISI Session participants of developing countries with financial support for travel and accommodation expenses for the purpose of encouraging the activities of ISI and promoting development of the world statistics.
 
Application Guidelines
1. Qualification
a) Active ISI session participants of developing countries which are included in the ISI Developing Countries list (*1) or the latest DAC (Development Assistance Committee, OECD) List of ODA Recipients (*2), i.e., authors of invited papers, invited paper session organizers and ISI council members.
b) In the case of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) of the DAC list, authors of contributed papers or contributed paper session organizers will be also considered.
c) The grantees from the program within the past five years and ISI ex-officio members are ineligible.

2. The Number of Persons to be Admitted
  In principle, no more than one applicant will be selected from a same country.
 
3. Scope of Costs to be Granted
a) Travel expense
b) Accommodation expense
c) Daily expense
 
4. Basis of Calculation of Amount to be Granted
  The amount to be granted is determined based upon an applicant's own estimate, in consideration of the following.
a) An actual amount incurred using a usual route between the applicant's dwelling place and where the Session takes place.
b) An accommodation and daily expense which is determined for the Durban Session with the cost-of-living at Durban taken into consideration. The hotel should be of medium grade.
c) All applicants are requested to save on costs as much as possible, using a discounted ticket for instance.
d) The maximum amount for a grantee is 300,000 Japanese Yen. If the amount calculated in a) and b) exceeds this, the maximum amount will be granted.
 
5. Application Procedure
  Application forms consist of 3 pages as follows and they can be downloaded from this homepage. The filled-in application forms must be received by the Institute of Statistical Research no later than April 10, 2009. Application through e-mail(isi-tokyo-memorial@isr.or.jp) is possible. Please note that Application Form without date or signature is not acceptable.

7. Selection
  The screening panel notifies all applicants as to their decision by the end of May 2009 and, for accepted ones, an amount to be granted is to be forwarded to his/her bank account approximately by the end of June 2009.

In the selection, those who have been recommended to us by organizers will be considered with priority.
 
8. Submission of Participation Certificate
  Within the two weeks of the closing date of the ISI session, all the grantees must submit documents issued either by the secretariat of the session, or by the session organizer to certify his/her participation in the session.
